Code of Ethics to check malpractices and plagiarism in research

Chaitanya Institute of Technology & Science has good name among the people of the society for maintaining good discipline and imparting morals & ethical values at every level of imparting knowledge . The Institution craves for high level of standards of values and has its own-framed code of Ethics to check malpractices and plagiarism in research. Institution not only emphasizes the need of maintaining code of ethics to check the malpractices and plagiarism in research among the faculty members but also among the pupils of the institution in writing the dissertations of research work, project works, assignments by preventing the misconduct including plagiarism in academic write-ups.

Mechanism for detecting Plagiarism:

The institution has mechanism with a Board of anti- plagiarism that consists the head of the department and the senior faculty members of the department in every discipline of the institution will monitor detecting plagiarism. The institution even has a Mechanism such as the plagiarism detecting software ( to prevent plagiarism and to promote academic integrity and deterrence from plagiarism.

Every student, whoever submit a thesis, project work or dissertation, technical papers or any other such write-up documents to the board of anti-plagiarism must submit an undertaking stating that the document what ever they submit or prepared by him/her self and that the document is his/her original work and is free from plagiarism.

The undertaking of the students include the fact that the document has been duly checked through a plagiarism detection tool approved by the institution. It is mandatory even for guide or supervisor to submit a certificate indicating that the work done by the researcher under his/her supervision is plagiarism free.

The core work carried out by the research scholar or student, faculty and staff shall be covered by minimum tolerance policy on plagiarism. In case if plagiarism has been identified or established in the core work, then the " Board of Anti Plagiarism" of the institution shall suggest for revision of work until it gets plagiarism free.

The core work consists of abstract, summary, hypothesis, observations, results, conclusions and recommendations. For all other (non-core) cases, plagiarism would be qualified in to the following levels in ascending order of severity for the purpose of its definition:
a) Similarities up to 15%-excluded.
b) Above 15%-Suggest for revision of work.
If any member of the academic community suspects with appropriate proof that a case of plagiarism if it is happened in any document, he or she report the matter to the "Board of anti- plagiarism" of the institution. Based on the received complaint or allegation the board may investigate the matter and suggest appropriate measures/ penalty on a case basis.
